I was browsing through \"The Goomba Gazette\" from an issue of Nintendo Power (Excitebike 64 is the cover, the issue number escapes me) and normal humor was there… Link is angry about billing on the titles (why so zelda?) , Donkey Kong conducts an interview full of \"No comment\" [( \"Is Cranky Kong the original Donkey Kong?\" \"No Comment.\")}

And then it talked about Toad being at TRADER VICs (West Coast Refs) and \"..enjoying a steak, Toad is a strict carnivore and would never harm another vegetable..\"

I see franchise potential untapped here.

I'm positive I read somewhere that Cranky Kong is the \"original\" DK and the moden DK is \"Junior\" grown-up.

Anyway – Toad sounds like a confused individual, mushrooms aren't vegetables.

Exactly! After making such a huge deal of that in the movie. Turning people into devolutionized particluates.

And in the Donkey Kong SNES video (anyone? anyone?) they reiterated this fact.

The era of Npower at that point, 2000, is the begining of the actual ads instead of \"articles\" and other shameless bumping and pluging. Although, they often came with stickers and cards too.
